VINEYARD: The Enz Vineyard is located in the Lime Kiln AVA and was originally planted in the late 1800s along the San Andreas fault, making it among the oldest in the state. The vineyard is dry-farmed and organic.

WINEMAKING: One-fourth of the grapes were left whole cluster. Punched down twice a day. We aged this wine for 7 months in neutral French Oak. We produced 3 barrels.

TASTING NOTES: Black Raspberry, Dried Rose, Iron.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: Brotherhood of the Grape is a novel by American author, John Fante. The novel, a veiled-autobiography, follows a successful writer's return home and the family that await him. The vineyard was planted just before the time depicted in the novel, an era of hard-won successes and perserverance in the face of adversity. This vineyard has seen a lot. And the wines produced from it exhibit a mysterious allure not easily explained.
